    We are looking for a dynamic Vice President, Business Development to join our Elderwood Administrative Services team and provide services in the area of census development to our state-of-the-art skilled nursing, assisted living and independent living facilities. We are growing rapidly through acquisitions and need a strategic and innovative team player who will report directly to the CEO. Position located in Buffalo, NY.

    Elderwood was founded in 1978 and provides administrative and other support services to skilled nursing, assisted living, and independent living facilities in western, central, and northern New York, Rhode Island and Pennsylvania.     Position Overview:

    Supports facility personnel to implement census development strategies at our skilled nursing, assisted living and independent living facilities. Responsible for establishing relationships with the referral community including hospitals, physicians, insurers and community organizations. Educates team members and referral sources about our quality services and provides support to the facility marketing and community relations personnel.


    • Identify, manage and develop sustainable strategic relationships with multiple referral sources.

    • Provide leadership and direction to support the Business Development, Physician Relations, Admissions and field Community Relations staff at the facilities.

    • Identify and maintain relationships with physicians in the communities for purposes of sourcing physician services for our facilities.

    • Develop both short- and long-term plans to accomplish departmental objectives/goals; including strategic initiatives that drive new business opportunities.

    • Help resolve barriers for admissions and/or key business opportunities.

    • Educate on services and programs and clearly establish differentiation from competition.

    • Manage the Family, Resident and Discharge survey contract and overall implementation process in conjunction with the facilities.

    • Act as the resident subject matter expert on local and national trends, forecasts, and opportunities for the organization.


    • Bachelor’s degree in either Business, Healthcare Administration, Marketing or a clinical field (Master’s degree preferred)

    • Must have, as a minimum 10 years’ business development / admissions experience in a health care setting. Significant clinical experience (and/or a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator) strongly preferred

    • Proven success in relationship development and training/mentoring of team members

    • Knowledge of healthcare regulatory standards

    • Microsoft Office skills required
