Are you a hands-on facilities professional with strong leadership skills and a passion for keeping things running smoothly? Do you have experience overseeing building systems, preventive maintenance, life-safety compliance, and maintenance teams — and take pride in creating a safe, comfortable environment for others? We want to talk with you!
At West Roxbury Health & Rehabilitation Center, the Director of Maintenance plays a critical role in maintaining the safety, comfort, and day-to-day operations of our community. As a 76-bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation community in West Roxbury, Massachusetts, we provide Short-Term Rehabilitation and Long-Term Care, along with specialized support including hospice care and respite care.
In this role, you'll take ownership of the facility's maintenance operations, grounds, equipment, preventive maintenance program, and life-safety systems while leading a team and partnering closely with Administration and departments throughout the facility. This is an opportunity for a maintenance professional who enjoys being both a leader and a problem solver — someone who can plan ahead, respond when unexpected challenges arise, and make sure the people who live and work here have a safe and well-maintained environment every day.
In a healthcare environment, maintenance is about much more than fixing what's broken. The building systems and equipment you oversee directly support resident safety, comfort, dignity, and quality of life. Reliable heating and cooling, properly functioning plumbing and electrical systems, safe grounds, effective emergency systems, and proactive preventive maintenance all contribute to the care environment our residents depend on. As the Director of Maintenance, you'll oversee the facility's maintenance program while balancing immediate needs with long-term planning. You'll work closely with Administration, nursing, clinical departments, maintenance staff, vendors, and contractors to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and with minimal disruption to resident care.
Although much of your work happens behind the scenes, the people you support are always at the center of it. Every repair, inspection, safety check, maintenance project, and emergency preparedness activity contributes to the environment in which residents receive care and call home. You'll be expected to consistently protect resident dignity, privacy, rights, safety, and comfort while performing maintenance responsibilities throughout the community. You'll also work closely with residents, families, staff, vendors, and visitors, making communication, professionalism, and exceptional customer service an important part of the role.
At West Roxbury Health & Rehabilitation Center, you'll work closely with the Administrator and facility leadership to identify priorities, address concerns, and plan for the ongoing needs of the community.

The Director of Maintenance is often the person people turn to when something needs to be solved. Maybe it's a critical building system that needs immediate attention. Maybe it's preparing for an upcoming inspection, coordinating a contractor, planning preventive maintenance, training staff on emergency procedures, or finding a way to complete an important project without disrupting resident care. This role requires someone who can think ahead, stay calm under pressure, lead a team, and get the job done. If you're a maintenance professional who takes ownership, leads with confidence, and understands that a safe, well-maintained facility is essential to quality resident care, West Roxbury Health & Rehabilitation Center wants to hear from you.
You'll have oversight of the facility's maintenance program and the opportunity to make a visible impact across the entire community.
