Elderwood at Hamburg is seeking an organized, dependable Purchasing Clerk to support purchasing and inventory activities within our 166-bed skilled nursing, long-term care and rehabilitation community.

This position is a strong opportunity for someone with purchasing, inventory, receiving, order-entry or administrative experience who enjoys keeping details organized and helping departments receive the supplies they need.

The Purchasing Clerk works with facility departments and vendors to process purchase orders, answer order-related questions, maintain records, monitor stock and distribute incoming materials. Your accuracy, communication and follow-through will help keep daily operations moving throughout the facility.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do as Purchasing Clerk:

  • Review approved purchase requisitions and enter, log and place purchase orders

  • Process routine and stock orders according to established ordering schedules

  • Distribute purchase-order information to the appropriate departments

  • Communicate with departments and vendors regarding pricing, quotes, delivery information, product specifications and units of measure

  • Receive, open, process and distribute mail and purchasing-related materials

  • Maintain organized records of purchase orders, requisitions, quotations and related documentation

  • Print and distribute purchasing reports

  • Help maintain the facility’s automated purchasing system

  • Monitor inventory and order supplies and forms as needed

  • Receive, pack, unpack and organize items in the stockroom

  • Distribute products and materials to departments, coworkers and designated storage areas

  • Keep the stockroom clean, orderly and easy to navigate

  • Provide responsive, professional service to employees, vendors, residents and visitors

Qualifications

What You’ll Bring as Purchasing Clerk

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • At least six months of purchasing-related work experience

  • Knowledge of standard office equipment

  • Strong organizational, communication and telephone skills

  • Ability to work effectively with facility employees, vendors and customer-service contacts

  • Ability to manage details, maintain accurate records and follow established ordering processes

  • Ability to frequently lift, push, pull or carry materials weighing up to 35 pounds
