Position Overview

As the RN Educator, you'll lead and coordinate educational programs designed to support employee development, regulatory compliance, clinical competency, and quality resident care.

 

You'll work closely with nursing leadership, preceptors, managers, and staff at all levels to develop and deliver meaningful education programs. You'll also serve as a clinical resource and mentor, helping new and experienced team members strengthen their skills and stay current with best practices.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do

Education & Staff Development

  • Plan, coordinate, and deliver new-hire orientation programs
  • Develop and present ongoing education for nursing staff and other facility employees
  • Coordinate mandatory corporate and facility-specific in-service education
  • Prepare monthly in-service education calendars and reports
  • Track staff education and competency requirements through the learning management system
  • Enroll employees in required learning programs and monitor completion
  • Ensure Nursing Assistants complete required in-service education
  • Coordinate CNA and Support Aide orientation programs based on hiring needs
  • Support licensed nurse orientation programs as needed
  • Coordinate department-specific orientation programs with facility leadership
  • Develop and deliver education on new nursing practices, procedures, policies, and clinical skills

Clinical Education & Competency

  • Serve as a clinical resource and mentor for Nurse Preceptors and new nurses
  • Collaborate with Unit Managers, Nurse Preceptors, and Nurse Consultants on staff development
  • Assist with annual clinical skills competency testing for licensed nursing staff
  • Serve as a clinical EMR "super user" and resource for facility staff
  • Coordinate and teach BLS certification programs based on facility needs
  • Coordinate and teach IV certification programs based on facility needs
  • Maintain training equipment, documentation, and certification records
  • Coordinate and support the Nursing Assistant Training Program when applicable
  • Coordinate Prometric testing and certification tracking for Nursing Assistant Trainees when applicable

Facility Education & Preparedness

  • Coordinate staff vaccinations, health screenings, and other medical testing as assigned
  • Schedule and coordinate emergency preparedness drills, including fire, disaster, and Code Blue drills
  • Maintain required records and documentation
  • Attend facility staff meetings and lead in-service education sessions
  • Partner with leadership to identify educational opportunities and improve clinical outcomes

Qualifications

RN Educator Qualifications:

  • Credentials of a Registered Professional nurse with a current NYS license required.
  • Baccalaureate degree preferred.
  • Experience in in-service education or skills in teaching; at least one year experience in a long-term health care facility required.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with personnel at all levels required.
  • Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing required.
  • Personal qualities of enthusiasm; interest in needs of residents, and quality assurance desirable.
  • Ability to perform tasks to established standards of excellence required.
  • This position requires regular interaction with residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors. In order to ensure a safe work environment for residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors of the Company, and to permit unfettered communication between the employee and those residents, coworkers, visitors, and supervisors, this position requires that the employee be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at an intermediate or more advanced level.
