Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) – RN
Elderwood at Lancaster | Lancaster, New York
Elderwood at Lancaster is seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON – RN) who leads from alongside the team. We are looking for a visible, hands-on clinical leader who can coach employees, strengthen clinical practice, solve problems, and step onto a medication or treatment cart when residents and staff need support.
This is not a desk-only leadership position. The right ADON will bring sound clinical judgment, a team-first attitude, and the willingness to help wherever needed. You will have the support of a strong Administrator and Director of Nursing, along with guidance and resources from a Corporate Clinical Consultant.
If you believe leadership means setting expectations, building trust, and being willing to do the work alongside your team, this may be the right next step for you.
Elderwood at Lancaster is located near the historic Village of Lancaster and is convenient to clinical leaders throughout Lancaster, Depew, Alden, Marilla, Elma, Clarence, Harris Hill, Akron, Darien Center, Corfu, Pembroke, Batavia, and the surrounding eastern Erie and western Genesee County communities.
Is visible, approachable, and engaged with residents and employees.
Brings a positive, solutions-focused attitude to daily challenges.
Sets clear expectations and follows through with accountability.
Coaches employees in the moment and helps them grow professionally.
Remains calm, organized, and clinically grounded in a busy environment.
Is willing to step onto a medication or treatment cart when coverage or resident needs require it.
Understands that strong leadership includes both operational oversight and direct support of the nursing team.
Builds productive relationships with residents, families, providers, and interdisciplinary partners.
You will not be expected to lead alone. The ADON works closely with an experienced leadership structure that includes:
A strong facility Administrator.
A supportive Director of Nursing.
A Corporate Clinical Consultant who provides additional clinical guidance, resources, and partnership.
An interdisciplinary team committed to resident care and staff success.
A broader Elderwood clinical network with training and professional-development opportunities.
Bring Your Leadership to the Floor
At Elderwood at Lancaster, we are looking for an ADON who understands that leadership is more than managing schedules and reviewing reports. It means being present, supporting the team, reinforcing strong clinical practices, and stepping in when help is needed.
If you are ready to lead with accountability, clinical confidence, humility, and a team-first attitude - and want the support of an experienced facility and corporate clinical leadership team - we would like to meet you.
