Position Overview

At Elderwood, we believe an active social life is an essential part of healthy aging. As an Activity Leader, you'll help create engaging recreational, social, and wellness programs that encourage residents to stay active, connected, and mentally stimulated.

Working alongside our Director of Activities, you'll plan and lead meaningful experiences that celebrate each resident's interests, abilities, and individuality.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do

  • Assist in planning and facilitating engaging daily recreational and social activities
  • Encourage resident participation through both group and one-on-one programming
  • Build meaningful relationships with residents while learning their interests and preferences
  • Help document resident participation and progress toward activity goals
  • Assist with care planning by providing observations and resident feedback
  • Coordinate with community organizations, volunteers, and special guests to enhance programming
  • Maintain activity supplies, equipment, and department inventory
  • Support special events, holiday celebrations, outings, and entertainment
  • Help create a warm, welcoming, and inclusive environment where every resident feels valued

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 18 yrs. age required, HS diploma or equivalent required.

  • Valid New York Driver’s License and clean driving record required.

  • Ability to develop good relationships with staff, volunteers, families and visitors required.

  • Ability to inspire and motivate others, create a warm and accepting climate for residents and be able to adapt and modify activities to meet their needs required.

  • Understanding of the rights and needs of residents required.

  • Physical stamina for constant activity required.

  • This position requires regular interaction with residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors. In order to ensure a safe work environment for residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors of the Company, and to permit unfettered communication between the employee and those residents, coworkers, visitors, and supervisors, this position requires that the employee be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at an intermediate or more advanced level.
