What You’ll Do:
- Screens and provides an in-depth evaluation of the needs of ventilator and respiratory clients. Consults with the attending physician and pulmonologist regarding treatment protocol. Provides written recommendations for interdisciplinary care planning and treatment.
- Informs residents or qualified representative about care and treatment plan and possible outcomes of treatment, or lack of treatment if resident or qualified representative refuses participation in a respiratory therapy program.
- Develops a treatment plan and initiates ventilator weaning protocol and/or respiratory therapy in accordance with the physician’s orders; maintains required contact with physician.
- Maintains written evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries of residents receiving respiratory treatment and monitoring according to state, federal, and facility policies.
- Attends and provides input at the interdisciplinary care team meetings; completes required documentation after the meetings.
- Records resident’s plan of care in the Interdisciplinary Care Plan as required or as needed.
- Orients and trains Respiratory Therapists; oversees educational program of respiratory therapy students affiliated with the facility.
- Orients and trains other direct care staff.
- Orients and oversees the work of staff Respiratory Therapists. Schedules respiratory assignments and collaborates with the Director of Nursing regarding Respiratory Therapy staff performance on an ongoing basis.

What We’re Looking For:
- Minimum of Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited educational institution; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Possession of active, unencumbered state Respiratory Therapist license in state where work is performed. Registered Respiratory Therapist by National Board of Respiratory Care.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in respiratory therapy is required. Pediatric experience preferred.
- Must possess a valid CPR and First Aid certification.
- Interest in respiratory therapy treatment program for chronic ventilator, ventilator weaning, and respiratory rehabilitation population.
- Display of genuine concern for the pediatric and chronically ill; is dependable, patient and compassionate attitude towards residents.
- Ability to cooperate and maintain respectful treatment towards others. Sense of responsibility, maturity, diplomacy, and ability to work well with residents, families, and other staff members.
- Ability to perform assigned tasks based on Pediatric Specialty Care Core Values and to a high degree of excellence and cleanliness.
