Responsibilities:

As a Cook at Elderwood, you will:

• Review menus and production sheets to determine food quantities needed for regular, mechanically altered, and special diets.

• Prepare and cook assigned food items according to recipes and guidelines.

• Test cooked foods by tasting and smelling samples to ensure quality.

• Maintain safety and sanitation standards throughout food preparation and production.

• Supervise food being cooked and ensure proper holding/serving temperatures.

• Assist with preparation and distribution of foodstuffs.

• Maintain cleanliness and proper upkeep of kitchen equipment and work areas.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 18 years of age required; High School diploma or equivalent preferred

• Previous food preparation experience required

• Ability to understand and organize food preparation activities

• Ability to carry out cooking tasks safely and efficiently

• Knowledge of food preparation and production processes

• Pride in quality of food and service

• Strong personal cleanliness and hygiene standards

• Respect for residents’ privacy, dignity, and rights

This position requires regular interaction with residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors.
