🩺 RN Unit Manager – Position Overview:

The RN Unit Manager is a key member of our clinical leadership team, responsible for overseeing nursing care and social programming on the assigned Long-Term Care unit. This role requires strong clinical expertise, team management, and communication skills, ensuring exceptional resident care and regulatory compliance.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and support nursing staff and CNAs on the unit

  • Coordinate resident care plans and ensure individualized, person-centered care

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation, assessments, and evaluations

  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams

  • Evaluate staff performance, support onboarding, and participate in hiring decisions

  • Ensure adherence to all clinical policies, procedures, and regulatory standards


✅ Qualifications:

  • Current RN license in the state of Vermont (or eligible for reciprocity)

  • Leadership experience in long-term care or skilled nursing preferred

  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills

Responsibilities

RN Unit Manager – Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive nursing care plans for residents, ensuring coordination with interdisciplinary team goals and approaches.

  • Promote a safe, organized, and welcoming environment for both residents and staff, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and functionality on the unit.

  • Actively participate in meetings, trainings, and in-services as requested by the Administrator and Director of Nursing to stay aligned with organizational goals and updates.

  • Identify and implement improvements that enhance the quality of resident care and increase team productivity, efficiency, and satisfaction.

  • Foster a positive team culture by encouraging engagement, recognizing contributions, and supporting professional growth among nursing staff.

 

Qualifications

RN Unit Manager – Qualifications

  • Licensure & Registration

    • Must possess a current State Registered Professional Nurse license and active registration.

  • Experience Requirements

    • Minimum of 2 years nursing experience, with at least 1 year in a nursing leadership role.

    • Experience or strong interest in geriatrics required; experience working with dementia patients is highly desirable.

  • Education

    • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

  • Leadership & Communication Skills

    • Proven ability to supervise and coordinate resident care within a clinical setting.

    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a talent for creative problem-solving and diplomacy.

    • Demonstrates key leadership characteristics, including:

      • The ability to build trust and motivate teams

      • A commitment to fostering an environment of pride and professional excellence

 

  • This position requires regular interaction with residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors. In order to ensure a safe work environment for residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors of the Company, and to permit unfettered communication between the employee and those residents, coworkers, visitors, and supervisors, this position requires that the employee be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at an intermediate or more advanced level.
