Assistant Unit Manager - Position Overview: 

 

  • The Assistant Unit Manager collaborates with the Unit Manager on clinical and nonclinical operations related to the unit. This individual is responsible for providing
    clerical and practical support to the Unit Manager.

Responsibilities

Assistant Unit Manager

  • Work in coordination with nursing leadership to ensure work is accomplished safely and effectively.
  • Responsible for supervising, directing, and mentoring staff under the supervision of the Unit Manager.
  • Serves as the lead support for the unit when the Unit Manager is unavailable.
  • Liaison between the nursing department/unit and Medical Providers as needed to facilitate quality resident care.
  • Works effectively with Unit Manager to adhere to regulatory compliance and improve safety and quality of care measures.
  • Fulfill administrative and practical duties for the Unit Manager.
  • Assign clinical duties to the nursing staff.
  • Provide supplementary care to residents as needed.
  • Collaborate with Healthcare Professionals both within the facility and outside.
  • Collaborate with Unit Manager for issue resolutions and projects to improve workflow.
  • Create a learning environment for staff to develop skills and abilities along with communicating collaboratively across other departments.
  • Communicate effectively to address expectations and promote teamwork while coaching and providing feedback.
  • Participate in assigned meetings as directed.
  • Utilizes electronic timekeeping system as directed.
  • Arrives to work on time, regularly, and works as scheduled.
  • Recognizes and follows the dress code of the facility including wearing name tag at all times.
  • Follows policy and procedure regarding all electronic devices, computers, tablets, etc.
  • Supports and abides by Elderwood’s Mission, Vision, and Values.
  • Abides by Elderwood’s businesses code of conduct, compliance and HIPAA policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor, management staff or Administrator

 

Qualifications

Assistant Unit Manager

  • Valid and current New York State Registered Nurse License and Registration in good standing in state which work is performed
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse
  • Charge Nurse experience preferred

 

  • This position requires regular interaction with residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors. In order to ensure a safe work environment for residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors of the Company, and to permit unfettered communication between the employee and those residents, coworkers, visitors, and supervisors, this position requires that the employee be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at an intermediate or more advanced level.
