Overview

Elderwood Administrative Services is seeking a Manager of IT Applications. 

 

Manager, IT Applications Overview:

  • The Manager of IT Applications will be responsible for leading, directing, planning, and controlling the activities and functions of multidisciplinary project teams supporting the software systems within the company.
  • This position maintains management knowledge to support excellence in patient care and company initiatives. 
  • This individual combines knowledge of clinical concepts, informatics concepts, and change management to effectively address the information and knowledge needs of healthcare professionals and patients to promote safe, effective, and efficient use of health IT in clinical settings. 
  • This is an office-based position (either home office or at corporate headquarters).

Responsibilities

Manager, IT Applications Essential Job Functions

  • Manages and provides direction for the application team in support of business operations.
  • Ensures that applications meet business requirements and systems goals, fulfills end-user requirements, and identifies and resolves systems issues.
  • Develops workflows for software usage.
  • Acts as a change agent working with clinical leadership teams, medical staff and IT leaders in the identification development, planning, implementation and measurement of overall strategies to support quality patient care and professional practice.
  • Provides critical analysis and evaluation and recommends revision of clinical systems, processes, and workflow to ensure achievement of positive patient outcomes.
  • Reviews and analyzes existing applications’ effectiveness and efficiency and develops strategies for improving or leveraging these systems.
  • Cultivates and disseminates knowledge of application-usage best practices.
  • Researches and provides recommendations regarding software products and services in support of procurement and development efforts.
  • Evaluates new applications, systems software, products, and/or enhancements to existing applications throughout the enterprise.
  • Analyzes documentation and technical specifications of any new application under deployment or consideration to determine its intended functionality.
  • Ensures that any new software integration into company systems meets functional requirements, system compliance, and interface specifications.
  • Coordinates feasibility studies for software and system products under consideration for purchase, and provides advice based on findings.
  • Liaises with company’s software suppliers for prompt rectification of any issues or emergencies.
  • Liaises with network administrators to assist with issue resolution.
  • Compiles and maintains inventory of company software and systems assets and their corresponding contracts/agreements.
  • Develops and communicates training and documentation for end users, hold training as necessary, and other user-related activities.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and modifies systems, including management of software installations, upgrades and system maintenance. 
  • Attends policy meetings and develops policies related to applications and system functionality, including system outages.
  • Assists in the development of, and adheres to, policies and procedures for the technical support of applications in accordance with HIPAA and all other applicable regulatory agency requirements.
  • Attends on-site and off-site meetings as necessary related to project work.
  • Works efficiently in and contributes to cross-functional teams.
  • Attends staff meetings and completes required education.
  • Travels to facilities as required/assigned.
  • This position requires regular interaction with residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors. In order to ensure a safe work environment for residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors of the Company, and to permit unfettered communication between the employee and those residents, coworkers, visitors, and supervisors, this position requires that the employee be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at an intermediate or more advanced level.

Qualifications

Manager, IT Applications Educational Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT or clinical field preferred, or 10+ years of equivalent experience in informatics setting
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in system configuration and leading, planning, implementing and evaluating clinical information systems
  • Experience in the health care industry necessary (post acute experienced preferred)
  • Working knowledge of EMR applications (PointClickCare preferred)
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience
  • Current, valid driver license
  • Clinical licensure preferred but not necessary
