Manager of Therapeutic Programs Overview

 

The Manager of Therapeutic Programs is an experienced professional in Programming services or Recreational Therapy. The Manager of Therapeutic Programs is responsible for overseeing the Programming and Recreational Therapy/Activities Department in accordance with the requirements of the policies and procedures of the facility as well as with federal, state, and local standards. The Manager of Therapeutic Programs is also responsible for maintaining a caseload of individuals under specific specialty.

Responsibilities

Manager of Therapeutic Programs Essential Job Functions

  • Oversees Programming and Recreational Therapy/Activities department to ensure individual’s needs are being met.
  • Responsible for leading the Programming and Recreational staff; including all hiring, coaching, disciplining authority, supervising schedules, mentoring staff, completing 3x5 sessions, onboarding and training for newly hired staff
  • Provides oversight, follows, and maintains departmental budget per company policy.
  • Expected to maintain a caseload under the incumbent’s specific specialty.
  • Program Specialist is responsible for assisting in planning, organizing, and developing Individual Support Plan, and providing case management services.
  • Recreational Therapist is responsible for providing hands on Recreational therapy services for individuals including assisting in planning, conducting, evaluating, and participating in 1:1 and group programming.
  • Hosts team meetings as needed for staff education.
  • Participates in facility meetings including interdisciplinary meetings, Quality Insurance meetings, Safety Committee meetings, etc.
  • Arrives to work on time, regularly, and works as scheduled.
  • Recognizes and follows the dress code of the facility including wearing name tag at all times.
  • Follows policy and procedure regarding all electronic devices, computers, tablets, etc.
  • Supports and abides by Pediatric Specialty Care’s Mission, Vision, and Values.
  • Abides by Pediatric Specialty Care’s businesses code of conduct, compliance and HIPAA policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor, management staff, or Administrator.

Qualifications

Manager of Therapeutic Programs Educational Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Sociology, Human Services, or related field plus a minimum of two (2) years of experience working directly with persons with Intellectual Developmental Disability OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in Recreational Therapy with current valid CTRS – Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist and a minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a Recreational Therapist OR
  • 4 years of equivalent experience
  • Two (2) years of experience in programming, case management and/or Recreational Therapy required
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Proficiency with computer usage and applications such as Microsoft Office
  • Must have a current, valid driver license with a clean driving record
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred
