Overview

*This is a temporary full-time position to cover a leave of absence, may be able to stay on in a part-time capacity after that.

 

The Chef provides nutritious, appetizing foods to our residents by preparing meals in accordance with the facility menu. The Chef follows safety and health precautions and procedures in accordance with company practices, proper handling and state and federal agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares meals in accordance with state regulations, current best practices, policies, and procedures for food preparation and meal service in a healthcare setting.
  • Assists Director of Nutritional Services with menu and recipe development as directed.
  • Adheres to diet types, recipes, portion sizes, menu cycles, and productions sheets to ensure safe and appropriate provision of food items to residents.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of therapeutic, texture or consistency altered diets and appropriate methods for preparation of these diets.
  • Exhibits proper use, care, handling, monitoring, and cleaning of all kitchen equipment necessary for meal production.
  • Conducts routine audits and monitors performance improvement initiatives related to food service.
  • Regularly contributes to, and actively participates in, department staff meetings.
  • Regularly interacts and communicates with residents/family members regarding meal quality.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of federal regulations of the State Department of Health code and rules and regulations regarding meal service in the post-acute care setting.

 

Qualifications

 

This position requires regular interaction with residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors. In order to ensure a safe work environment for residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors of the Company, and to permit unfettered communication between the employee and those residents, coworkers, visitors, and supervisors, this position requires that the employee be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at an intermediate or more advanced level.
