Overview

Elderwood Staffing Solutions (ESS), our Internal Float Pool, has a new opportunity for a Float MDS Assessor to join our elite team of Clinical Reimbursement specialists!

This position is a per diem, remote position. 

MDS experience required. 

 

Float MDS Nurse Assessor - Position Overview:

  • The Remote MDS Float ensures adherence to the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) and all federal Medicare regulations.
  • Establishes the schedule for completion of the Medicare required assessments setting the completion date to maximize reimbursement for each individual assessment.
  • Completes all Medicare Prospective Payment System (PPS) Minimum Data Set (MDS) and/or OBRA assessments for both subacute and long-term care.
  • Full time hours are not guaranteed. 
  • Per Diem Rate Based on MDS Experience.

Responsibilities

RN - MDS Nurse Assessor:

  • Maintains certifications and licensure as required by NYS.
  • Collection of data for accurate and timely MDS completion and transmission.
  • Works closely with their Clinical Reimbursement team members.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of all policies and procedures.
  • Follows policy and procedure regarding all electronic devices, computers, tablets, etc.
  • Supports and abides by Elderwood’s and affiliate’s Mission, Vision, and Values.
  • Abides by Elderwood’s businesses code of conduct, compliance, and HIPAA policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor, management staff or Administrator.

Qualifications

RN - MDS Nurse Assessor:

  • Credentialed as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse in good standing for state of facility operation.
  • RAC-CT certification preferred.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of MDS experience
  • Knowledge of MDS/PPS scheduling, completion, coding, and submission requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience and background in Medicare Reimbursement including CMI and PDPM payment model.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Medicare Part A skilled coverage guidelines and documentation requirements.· Familiarity and understanding of ICD-10 codes.
  • Knowledge of CMS Quality reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (e.g., Excel, Outlook) and EMR platforms (e.g., PCC, SimpleLTC, Nethealth).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously.
  • This position requires regular interaction with residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors. In order to ensure a safe work environment for residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors of the Company, and to permit unfettered communication between the employee and those residents, coworkers, visitors, and supervisors, this position requires that the employee be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at an intermediate or more advanced level.
