Pediatric Specialty Care at Philadelphia and Pedicatric Specialty Care at Lancaster  are seeking a caring and dependable team player who wants to make a difference in the lives of extraordinary children to join us as a Traveling Pediatric Physical Therapist. 

 

As A Traveling Pediatric Physical Therapist, You Will:

  • Work on-site at Pediatric Specialty Care at Philadelphia and Pediatric Specialty Care at Lancaster to provide the best possible care to residents in accordance with established physical therapy practices and all policies and procedures of the organization as well as current federal, state, and local standards governing the facilities.
  • Conduct evaluations on all individuals upon admission to Pediatric Specialty Care at Philadelphia and Pediatric Specialty Care at Lancaster and develop treatment plans as indicated. 
  • Evaluate and assess all wheelchair and lower extremity splinting and bracing equipment needs for each individual to ensure that the equipment used meets the physical, psychosocial, and developmental needs of that individual and providing and modifying treatment regimens when necessary.
  • Collaborate with physicians, vendors, and other staff to make sure that individuals are receiving the best physical therapy treatment and equipment possible.
  • Educate staff on properly utilizing new equipment and providing services as needed.

Responsibilities

Traveling Pediatric Physical Therapist Overview:

  • Actively participates in the planning, coordination, and delivery of quality care to all individuals.  
    • Evaluates all individuals upon admission.
    • Develops treatment plan when indicated to provide therapy services to individuals.
    • Monitors resident’s response to intervention and modifies program as indicated to attain goals in accordance with physician’s orders.
    • Conduct screenings of individuals at regular intervals to determine need for Physical Therapy.
    • Follows established policies and procedures of the facility.
    • Collaboration with other team members for effective communication with individual, family members, case workers, etc.
    • Assists with discharge planning for smooth transition to new living environment (family education, home assessments, written therapy instructions).
    • Perform quarterly assessments on all individuals receiving treatment.
    • Collaborate with school therapy team for continuity of care and treatment.
    • Performs timely and accurate documentation.
    • Collaborates with physicians as needed as it pertains to physical therapy treatment.
  • Evaluation and assessment of equipment needs.
    • Evaluate for appropriate mobility device(s) upon admission and schedule with vendor if needed.
    • Ongoing assessment of current mobility and orthotic equipment and scheduling with vendors for any needed adjustments.
    • Obtaining prescriptions from physician for any needed equipment or changes to existing equipment.
    • Scheduling with orthotic vendors for new equipment and when adjustments are needed to current equipment.
    • Light maintenance of current equipment such as minor wheelchair or orthotic repairs.
    • Educating staff on new equipment and providing in services as needed.
    • Enters tasks in electronic charting system for any specific instructions for wearing time of orthotics and splints.
  • Participates in quality improvement, clinical and safety programs upon request.
  • Performs all position duties according to safety rules and standards of practice required for this position, and as required to ensure the general safety of staff, individuals, and visitors of the facility.

Qualifications

Traveling Pediatric Physical Therapist Requirements:

  • Graduate of a nationally accredited college with a master’s degree or Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy.
  • State license to practice physical therapy required.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Ability to direct others necessary.
  • Pediatric Specialty Care expects all current and new employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19 or submit a COVID-19 Refusal Form.
