The Housekeeping Supervisor team member assists with ensuring the health and

well-being of our residents by being responsible for the staffing and operation of the

HousekeepingDepartment under the direction of the Environmental Services Director. 




Position Duties include but are not limited to:

  2. Keep facility environment in a sanitary, odor free, attractive and orderly condition and develops a Master Cleaning Schedule for daily, weekly, monthly and annual cleaning tasks.
  3. Ensure an adequate supply of clean linens to meet the needs of residents and staff; oversee laundering of the personal clothing of residents.
  4. Establish standards and work procedures for housekeeping and laundry staff in accordance with approved facility policies.
  5. Plan work schedules and assign hours and area of work to housekeeping and laundry staff in the absence or at the direction of the manager.
  6. Conduct training and orientation of new department employees and demonstrate the use of departmental supplies and equipment.
  7. Supervise and inspect daily the cleaning areas of Housekeeping Aides and the laundry services performed by Laundry Aides.
  8. Ensure that infection control policies and procedures are followed by housekeeping/laundry staff.
  9. Appraise the effectiveness of housekeeping and laundry supplies and equipment.
  10. Requisition supplies and equipment needed by housekeeping and laundry staff.
  11. Perform housekeeping or laundry duties normally performed by aides, if necessary.
  12. Participate in studies regarding new cleaning or laundry supplies and equipment.
  13. Manage the packing of possessions and housekeeping tasks involved when resident is discharged or changes rooms at this facility.
  14. Coordinate the mending and labeling of residents' clothing as needed.
  15. Coordinate quarterly inventories of laundry linens.
  16. Maintain department costs within the budget parameters.
  17. Participate in quality assurance programs, as required.
  18. Assure that departmental staff observe residents' rights and treat all residents with courtesy and kindness.
  19. Install and remove Christmas decorations.
  20. May be requested to be receiving clerk in certain facilities or supervise receving clerk.
  21. Arrives to work on time, regularly, and work as scheduled; responsible for own transportation.
  22. Utilizes electronic timekeeping system.
  23. Observes and practices confidentiality of resident information and privacy when performing job duties.
  24. Recognizes and follows the dress code of the facility including wearing name tag at all times.
  25. Performs assigned duties according to the service excellence standards and goals established for this position, and for all staff members of this facility.
  26. Attends facility meetings, staff meetings, and required or preferred in-services.
  27. Generates and develops ideas which improve the quality of care for residents or increase position productivity and satisfaction.
  28. Performs all position duties according to safety rules and standards of practice required for this position, and as required to ensure the general safety of staff, residents and visitors of this facility.
  29. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of all policies and procedures and ability to reference them.
  30. Exhibits the highest level of customer service towards residents, staff and visitors.
  31. Consistently demonstrates the ability to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner in order to meet current needs, such as reprioritizing work as necessary.
  32. Performs other duties as assigned by management staff or Administrator.



  • Minimum 18 yrs. age required, HS diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Two years of experience in housekeeping/laundry environment required. One of which was in a supervisory capacity. 
  • Ability to lead and manage employees necessary.
  • Qualities of dependability, honesty, and discretion necessary.
  • Working knowledge of infection control and safety measures required.
  • Ability to maintain high standards of building cleanliness and orderliness, and care of linens and residents' clothing required.
