Overview

Elderwood has a NEW, exciting opportunity for a Regional Director of Nursing (RN - RDON) to join our clinical network. This position requires experience in Long Term Care (LTC) / Skilled Nursing.

 

Regional Director of Nursing (RN - RDON) - Position Overview:

 

The Regional Director of Nursing (RN) will float between skilled nursing facilities as needed under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer. This position will be responsible to back fill vacant SNF Director of Nursing positions until an adequate replacement is hired and Train or onboard newly hired DON’s. In addition to the DON role, this person may be asked to temporarily backfill vacant nursing leadership roles such as ADON, Unit Manger or Educator when there is not a current vacancy for a Director of Nursing; or assist the Chief Nursing Officer with special projects within designated facilities. This position will require travel throughout WNY, Central NY and the Adirondack region and may require frequent overnight stays.

Responsibilities

Regional Director of Nursing (RN - RDON):

  • Overall staffing, staff training and development, and management of personnel in the Nursing Services Department of a residential health care facility.
  • Overall quality of nursing care assessment, planning, documentation, and provision of services to residents.
  • Coordination of medical and pharmaceutical services in cooperation with the Medical Director, Pharmacy Consultant and Major Vendor Pharmacy.
  • Proper placement for care of residents, determined in cooperation with facility staff and Attending Physician.
  • Coordination of inter-disciplinary health care services for residents that are provided by facility staff, other service providers, and consultants.
  • Participation and promotion of Quality Management activities and programs for ongoing improvement in nursing services to the facility.

Qualifications

Regional Director of Nursing (RN - RDON):

  • Credentials of a Registered Professional Nurse with a current State license in which work is performed.
  • At least two years of supervisory nursing experience and additional training and experience commensurate with the size of the facility and responsibilities of the position.
  • Geriatric nursing training preferred.
  • Possession of a baccalaureate degree in nursing or administration preferred.
  • Qualities of maturity, diplomacy, ability to work well with others.
  • Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to supervise departmental staff effectively and ensure that high standards of care are maintained.
  • Ability to perform tasks to established standards of excellence.
